Typhoon "Maring" strikes, class suspension still ongoing.

We had been experiencing the non-stop rainfall brought by Tropical storm "Maring" since Sunday, August, 18 which prompted PAG-ASA to extend the rain alert from "orange" to "red".

Due to inclement weather caused by Typhoon "Maring", classes on all levels were suspended on Monday, August 19. Work was also suspended on government offices as well as some private sectors on Metro Manila.
The effect of the continuous rainfall had been felt around Metro Manila due to strong flooding, including other nearby provinces like Cavite, Laguna, and others more. Laguna and Cavite was both declared in the "state of calamity" because of incessant rains and heavy flooding.

The red rain alert had prompted to some dams in the metro to be opened. La Mesa Dam was opened because it was nearing spilling level. Rivers overflowing in Rosario, Cavite which resulted in the evacuation of several residents in the area for their safety. Evacuation was also instilled as well in Marikina and Taguig. Malabon residents are also requested to evacuate due to Tullahan river overflowing.

Due to the effects of Tropical Storm Maring and the enhanced southwest monsoon, classes in certain areas have been suspended for August 20, 2013.
