Happy to be home at Azalea Residences Baguio [Review]

Tuesday, June 02, 2015

Baguio City is considered as the Summer Capital of the country because of its cool climate all year round. Whenever I feel the need to do a digital detox or just getaway from the humid weather in the Metro, Baguio is one of my go-to places.

Azalea Residences is one of the outstanding hotels in Baguio City that offers full-serviced apartment style hotels at a comparable price. You'll never feel that you left home because of their superb facilities and amenities.

Azalea Residences Baguio invited us bloggers to have a group getaway and experience the cool climate of Baguio before summer ends. We were invited to stay for 3D/2N with a pack of activities in mind.

Azalea Residences is located in a hilltop along Leona loop, with a nice view of Baguio's ecosystem.
Their facade is similar to a luxurious cabin with a laidback feel. The driveway itself is gorgeus and picture perfect.

They have a spacious lobby for guests awaiting check-in. You'll be warmly greeted by their staff, offering you a warm towel and a glass of juice to freshen you up from the long and tiring ride to Baguio.

Azalea Residences have two inhouse lounge and cafe namely, 8 Degree Lounge and Tradisyon Cafe. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinners are served at Tradisyon Cafe with an option of in house (or rather in room) dining. They also have a playground outside for kids while parents appreciate the sunrise/sunset.

Four of us stayed at their two bedroom suite. I was amazed how spacious their rooms were. It's like stepping into your own condominium unit. The room was complete with a living room equiped with flat screen TV with cable, full-functioning kitchen and bathroom complete with toietries. The room can house in maximum of 6 persons, converting the living room into another bedroom.

I had these room all by myself! Thanks to my kind roomies.

This is the living room, converted the sofa into another bed.

Bathroom was decent, complete with towels of different sizes and toiletries. Of course, they also have a working hot and cold shower (it is a Baguio must-have, for it is a struggle to bath in their chilly weather.)

A fully functioning kitchen complete with ref with complimentary water replenished everyday, electric stove with cookwaresand kitchen utilities, miicrowave oven and coffee and tea set. You can just stay inside your room and play "bahay-bahayan".

If you are coming with your honey for a relaxing vacation, their deluxe rooms is the perfect room. Still complete with all the room amenities, best that you choose the room with a balcony facing the Baguio horizon to catch the nice sunrise/sunset.

If you are feeling more luxurious, you may want to get their presidential suite. It completely resembles to a cabin in the woods, complete with a fireplace. It's more like a cabin home but with a touch of elegance of a hotel. The room was too spacious, you can hold a house party in it.

As much as we wante to just stay in our rooms and just bum our asses out, Azalea Residences prepared a day full of activities that will cover all Baguio's finest in just 3 days.

To give you a sneak peak, we went to La Trinidad and dine at Jewel Igorot Restaurant. We had a fun night at 2600 gastropub and we had a full afternoon of running around, Amazing Race style to uncover Baguio's treasures. I'll give a detail story on a separate blogpost. :)

On a side note:
Let me share a spooky (and at the same time funny) experience we had in our room.
We were all in our rooms, lazing around when all of a sudden our room blacked out. We thought it was just a power outage, but when we peeked outside, everything was normally lit. So we were frightened but at the same time trying to rationalize what happened. So we tried turning the switches On and Off, and luckily the power returned.

Until a few minutes passed and the room blacked out again. It happened in like three instances. Not to scare ourselves further, we just concluded that there's something wrong with our power card and repaced it. Fortunately the power went back and behaved as usual. With that experience, all of us suddenly shared the gim and hair-raising Baguio tales we have. Let me tell you, I slept with the all the lights on and the TV blaring with food shows (Thanks to FYI and SkyCable) until I was able to sleep.
