Delicious Vegetarian Dishes at Corner Tree Cafe Makati

Wednesday, June 24, 2015

As people strive to live a healthy lifestyle, more and more people are switching and changing traditions and principles. The vegetarian (or vegan) community is getting a welcoming hype which prompts for more specialty restaurants to cater to their lifestyle.

Corner Tree Cafe is a quaint restaurant in Bel-Air Makati. When you pass by along Jupiter St, you may miss Corner Tree Cafe because there is a big tree in front of them,at the corner of Bel-Air village's gate, which I guess prompted its name.

Their cafe have that bookstore feel, where you may want to spend your leisure time with a good book and drink. They have a wide array of home cooked vegetarian dishes which will make you want to think twice if you are really at a vegetarian restaurant.

A group of foodies and I have been invited to try their dishes. As not to overwhelm us with vegetarian dishes that are a bit new to our palate, we were served sample sized portion of their dishes. Here's what we had that afternoon:

For starters, we tried their Japanese Seaweed Salad with Soy Ginger dressing, a sampler set of their Vegetable Dumpling and Spinach and Feta Croquette.

Japanese Seaweed Salad (Php190/solo)

Vegetable Dumpling (Php150) and Spinach and Feta Croquettes(Php190)

As for their main entrees, we also had a sampler set of their Grilled Asparagus Panini, Spinach and Mushroom Lasagna, Chili san Carne with Cornbread and Vegetarian Kare Kare with Bagoong.

Grilled Asparagus Panini (Php330) and Spinach and Mushroom Lasagna (Php445)

Chili san Carne with cornbread (Php305)

Vegetarian Kare Kare (Php215)

With Corner Tree Cafe, they take pride of their desserts, Their selection is sinfully sweet, the best way to cap a good hearty meal. We tried their Banofee Pie and Chocolate Mousse with Dark Toblerone. Both these desserts are good, but what I loved is the Banofee Pie because of its rich caramel in between. It was rich and contributed a nice sweet taste for the pie.

Banofee Pie (Php165)

Chocolate Mousse with Dark Toblerone (Php220)

Overall, Corner Tree Cafe makes palatable vegetarian dishes that will make non-vegetarians do a double take. Bring your hesitant friends and let them try their delicious vegetarian dishes. They'll never think of being vegetarian as boring and tasteless but instead a more fun and fascinating perspective on healthy eating.
