Last October, my friends ( the Superbellies) decided to go to La Union to celebrate the long overdue birthday celebrations of the three bellies in the group (including myself). It's been awhile since we went out-of-town due to each one's busy work schedule.

Despite the storm signal at La Union, we decided to push our luck and went ahead to La Union.
We met at Bo's Coffee Glorietta 5 (they are open 24 hours) at around 3:00AM and was picked up by the van we rented. Everyone was tired that time and instantly fell asleep as the road trip started.

The journey by van going to La Union took 4.5 hours, including 2 stopover.  The weather was good at La Union because there were no signs of rain yet.

Every time there is a chance, We plan a Team Lunch just to catch up on things with other members. You see, since we are in a part time account working on different hours, we rarely get a chance to see each other rarely alone chat on how things have been. I think its a good practice to have those mini gatherings to increase camaraderie with workmates which could result to greater productivity through teamwork.

We had our team lunch at Amici Ayala Triangle. It was lunch hour and Ayala Triangle is usually packed at those hours. We were lucky we found seats for 6-8 persons at Amici without having to wait in line.

Amici is known for their pasta and pizzas. The pasta and pizza servings at Amici is good for sharing of 2-3 person. Here are some of what we ordered:

I was searching for recipes which uses kangkong as base. I kind of considered Kangkong as an cheaper alternative for Spinach. It's abundant and costs way cheaper than spinach.

Kangkong has a neutral tasted which makes it easier to combine with various meats and even raw or without meat, it is very tasty. Kangkong goes well with the flavor enhancers shrimp paste and fish sauce.

Rau Muong is a Vietnamese dish which uses Chinese Water Spinach or popularly known as Kangkong. I found this recipe here which was simple and easy to follow.

Valentine's Day is one of those holidays that everyone anticipates, not only for the people who are in love but also for those who believe in love. Valentines brings out the best in every one of us. The desire to express love is stronger on this day.


Since Valentine's Day falls on a Friday which coincides with a payday, Valentines weekend will surely be very busy. Everyone is busy thinking of ways to make this valentine weekend a blast and of course to impress that special someone.

As soon as we set foot in La Union, everybody has been craving for Halo-Halo. It was weird because the weather's a bit stormy when we were there, yet we were craving for halo-halo.

When we knew that Halo-Halo de Iloko was in our itinerary, we couldn't stop blurting halo halo the whole trip. Unfortunately, Halo Halo de Iloko is a town away from the surfing spot of La Union. We just decided to have lunch there before heading back to Manila.


Halo Halo de Iloko is a pretty place for a restaurant. It is a house transformed into a quaint but nicely decorated restaurant. If you follow the directions from the Plaza, you wouldn't miss this place.

Eastwood is really a good place for foodies with a lot of good places and choices to try. You see, I live just at the outskirts of Eastwood City, so planning where to eat makes me giddy. Lately, I've been really eyeing this quaint cafe in Felina Corporate Tower in Eastwood.

I've been aware of "cupcake craze" going on as a lot of cupcake stores opening here and there. I've read a lot of good reviews but what made me more excited was I found out that they were the same as the makers of Gigi's Custaroons, I said I must definitely try their cupcakes.
