Katsu Houses have been sprawled all over the metro. Those juicy pork meat coated with crispy batter, the japanese way have been capturing our foodie hearts (and tummy). Armed with the perfect set meal of unlimited rice for the typical Filipino eaters, unlimited cabbage for people whose watching their carbs, refillable miso soup and pickles, These Katsu places sure know how to make tummies happy.

Saboten is the first franchised restaurant acquired by the Raintree Restaurants whose known for their western cuisine attributing to their roster of restaurants like M Cafe, Mr. Jones, Momo and Chelsea. When Saboten came to the Philippines, it has directly been on the top 5 katsu places to try in the Metro. I've tried several katsu places like Yabu and Kimukatsu. Recently, Saboten opened its second branch just below our office in Glorietta 5. So I was curious how good Saboten really is. Did Saboten Lived up to it's hype?


I was just plotting Saboten on my list of food places to try since it's just below our office. I was glad that I got invited to try Saboten. We met with Carmela and Michele, from Raintree Restaurants as they discuss the origins of Saboten and some of their restaurants. They let us order anything we liked on the menu. As I was browsing through their menu, I was shocked on how Saboten will surely make one's tummy burst with satisfaction. Their set meals serving were almost good for two persons. The prices were almost the same as other Katsu places, ranging from Php400-500/pax

The owners, Kat and David Azanza believe in a complete and doctor approved way of detoxifying that doesn't interfere with our regular day to day lives. They have always been an advocate of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Bonifacio Global City is slowly shaping its scenery, catering to the hungry tastebuds of foodies. With a lot of restaurants sprawled in hectares of land developed by Ayala, It's rounding up to become a foodie haven ranging for budget friendly and upscale restaurants.

The Fort Strip is known for as a "strip" of Gastropub and lounges. Little do you know, there are a lot of restaurants that serves comfort food within the area. Bloggers were invited to Sunshine Kitchen, a quaint restaurant at The Fort Strip, to try their menu and best sellers.


Sunshine Kitchen is located at the second floor at The fort strip. It is tucked carefully at the corner of the strip with a wide glass window overlooking the space below. One step at Sunshine Kitchen, you'll be transported to an open kitchen in one of the Western loft apartments.

Their interiors are vibrant and full of light which holds true to it's name, Sunshine Kitchen. You'll be welcomed with brick walls, creatively placed hanging plants and lightbulbs, wooden chairs and tables and their open (separated by clear glass) kitchen. It exudes a homey atmosphere.


Sunshine Kitchen opens at lunchtime (11AM-2PM). We arrived just as the lunch hour's about to end. We met Tanya, the chef and part owner of Sunshine Kitchen.We got to see her in action, in the kitchen, preparing the dishes we were about to try.

Who haven't heard of the famous "Bagnet" from Ilocos?

Ilocandia cuisine is very interesting. Bagnet, Longganisa, Empanada, Pinakbet and Sinanglao are some of the famous dishes at Ilocos Sur. I was very excited to try these dishes during our gastronomic trip up North.


Metro Vigan Inn (through Powercomm) had invited us bloggers to have a taste of Ilocandia cuisine at their newly opened restaurant, Metro Vigan Cafe. Metro Vigan Cafe offers Asian Ilocano cuisine. Though my knowledge on Ilocano cuisine is limited only to Bagnet, It was an awe how many creative dishes you can make use of Bagnet.

Let me tell you that I haven't been to Vigan. The only place I've been to North was La Union. Being a certified Southern-er, I was glad that I'm getting out and exploring places beyond my comfort zone.

The Balcony Gastropub is tucked in one of the buildings in the busy streets of Legaspi Village. As I fondly remember, Soshi and I have been there a year ago with his office mates for a drink. We were invited by Christine, one of the owners of The Balcony to try their dishes along with other food bloggers.

The Balcony Gastropub didn't change a bit. It's the same as I have remembered it a year ago. Their brick wall interior, antique chandeliers, framed mirrors and wide and open spaced al fresco dining area is all the same.
