Review: Halo Halo de Iloko La Union

Friday, February 07, 2014

As soon as we set foot in La Union, everybody has been craving for Halo-Halo. It was weird because the weather's a bit stormy when we were there, yet we were craving for halo-halo.

When we knew that Halo-Halo de Iloko was in our itinerary, we couldn't stop blurting halo halo the whole trip. Unfortunately, Halo Halo de Iloko is a town away from the surfing spot of La Union. We just decided to have lunch there before heading back to Manila.

Halo Halo de Iloko is a pretty place for a restaurant. It is a house transformed into a quaint but nicely decorated restaurant. If you follow the directions from the Plaza, you wouldn't miss this place.

And what do we ordered at Halo Halo de Iloko? Of course, Halo Halo! They have a bit of varieties for Halo Halo. We ordered Halo Halo in a Buko and we were surpised how it turned out. The Buko was big, all the halo halo ingredients was inside and the milk was served on the side.

Since we arrived past lunchtime, we ordered snack items in the menu. Halo Halo de Iloko serves Ilokano foods, like Bagnet, Longannisa and others. We ordered a big plate of  Pancit Saramsam for sharing. The Pancit was so good!

The pancit was quite bitin so we ordered Okoy Tikyosko. I personally didn't like Okoy but this Okoy tasted different. Maybe it's because of the vinegar. The okoy is seved with Ilokano vinegar which was so good.

Halo Halo de Iloko is a must try at La Union. They also serve Ilokano dishes. There was a lot in the menu that I'd love to try. Whenever Soshi wants to do some surfing in the future, I'll definitely tag along!
