I love cold places that is why I consider Baguio as one of the closest weekend getaway places Soshi and I usually go to. Our first time in Baguio turned out to be a major food trip. Now that Dexter's here (our newly acquired Suzuki Ertiga), roadtrips to Baguio have been more fun and easy.

Baguio is the summer capital of the Philippines and people often flock here during the summer. Temperature ranges from 25 degrees and even lower during the first part of the year. But this February, Baguio comes to life because of the Panagbenga Festival.


Panagbenga Festival is also called the Blooming Flowers Festival. This is a month long celebration, usually celebrated every February. The festival attracts a lot of tourists for Baguio comes to life, covering the city with flowers. The provincial government had prepared a month long activities to celebrate this season. The most anticipated event would be the flower parade where a lot of floats covered with beautiful flowers parade through the streets of Baguio. Spectators can't help but be in awe on how attractive and creative the floats are.

But we won't be going there during the peak of the festival. We'll just have a look of some of the activities for Panagbenga and at the same time cuddle ourselves to the cold climate of Baguio. Besides, It's the love month season, we have the all the reason to cuddle because of the freezing 19 degrees temperature in Baguio. ;)

If you miss your awesome nights at Republic, which unfortunately closed down. Fret not! The same people from Republic rebranded, thus the birth of Universe Gastrolounge and Nightclub.

Universe Gastrolounge and Nightclub is located at Resorts World Manila, where Republic and Opus were formerly located. The place was a bit smaller but it still had that party and chill ambiance. Universe Gastrolounge may be small in size as compared to other lounges, but it has the same awesome vibe as those hip party lounges like 71 Gramercy, Valkeryie and the likes because they are owned by the same cool people.


Aside from being a cool hip place to party, Universe Gastrolounge also has a cozy and quaint restaurant. I was invited to try their dishes and let me tell you, they were great. Little did I know, the whole menu was made by none other than Chef Aracama. Who doesn't love the dishes from Chef Aracama?

Mongkok Glorietta is one of the restaurants that has been relocated at the second floor of  the new Glorietta wing. Mongkok has a wide array of menu that caters our favorite Cantonese comfort food, ranging from different type of dumplings, braised meats, noodle dishes and a lot more.

Once you pass by Mongkok, after shopping (or window shopping) around Glorietta, you'll notice big groups of diners, mostly families enjoying their meal there.Which makes you wonder what dishes can you try there? I' love browsing through sites that share their easy recipes. I'm currently hooked on Food52 site for they compile the best recipes with a link that credits to the original site which it was created. From perfect food shots down to easy recipes, they have a lot of it on their site.

Here's an Easy Korean Beef bowl recipe I've bookmarked and decided to recreated. This recipe is adapted from Damn Delicious. This recipe is also affordable for it uses ground beef instead of beef strips, which is more cheap in my opinion.

Mediterranean, specially Latin food fare has slowly creeped up the metro food scene making our food choices more grueling and at the same time, interesting.

Solaire's newly opened Sky Tower recently opened their newest restobar, WaterSide Restobar which boasts in delicious Latin and Mediterranean cuisine. I was present at the grand opening of Waterside and it was one big marvelous event.


The event was hosted by Kim Jones, a known model and blogger as well. We were welcomed by lively Latin upbeat music from the band as we wader in awe on how spectacular the place is.

Waterside had that sleek environment which definitely had the hotel standards. We were allowed to wander the whole restaurant as we take a glimpse of busy chef in action, cautiously preparing the food we were about to try that night.
